CITY OF DECATUR , SPECIAL PROVISIONS SP-5 TRAFFIC CONTROL ' Description: Traffic control shall be in accordance with the applicable sections of the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction,the applicable guidelines contained in the Illinois Manual on Uniform Traffic Devices for Streets and Highways,these Standard Specifications, and any special details and Highway Standards contained herein and in the plans. Special attention is called to Articles 107.09 and 107.14 and Sections 701, 702, and 703 of the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction and the following highway ' standards relating to traffic control: Highway Standards: 701311 701427 701501 701602 701606 701701 701801 701901 , In the event that it is necessary to close the lane and/or street,the Engineer shall be consulted to obtain permission at least 48 hours in advance of the proposed lane and/or street , closing. All appropriate lane closure permits shall be filed with the Engineering and Infrastructure Department prior to any street/lane closures. In addition,at the end of every work day the lane and/or street shall be opened to local traffic unless approved by the Engineer. ' It shall be the responsibility of the Contractor to notify all forms of local media of the schedule of street closures for the following week, after approval by the Engineer. A list of the media to be notified along with their fax numbers will be provided by the Engineering Division. A copy of the notification will also be provided to the Engineer. Traffic control standards shall be applied as directed by the Engineer. Suggested applications for each standard are as follows: ' Traffic Standard 701311: This standard shall be utilized when moving operations are required during the day on a two-lane/two-way roadway. ' Traffic Standard 701427: This standard shall be utilized when moving operations are required during the day on a multi-lane roadway. ' Traffic Standard 701501: This standard shall be utilized when a lane is required to be closed on a two-lane/two-way,undivided roadway. Traffic Standard 701602: This standard shall be utilized when a lane is required to be closed on a multi-lane/two-way roadway with bidirectional left turn lane. Traffic Standard 701606: This standard shall be utilized when a lane is required to be i closed on a multi-lane/two-way, undivided roadway. Traffic Standard 701701: This standard shall be utilized when working in the median or ' outside the curb in the various quadrants of intersections. Traffic Standard 701801: This standard shall be utilized when a sidewalk or a corner is ' required to be closed. All additional traffic control as required in the standard details that are not specifically ' provided for herein will be considered as included with the various pay items requiring traffic control.
